INQ chief says Android is too geeky for 'pretty girls'

Take one dose of improper generalization, mix it in with a heaping of condescension, and then add a pinch of good old sexism. What do you get? This quote, coming from Frank Meehan, CEO of the Android handset-making INQ:

"If you go to a nightclub in any city in the world, the pretty girl has an iPhone or a BlackBerry. She doesn't have an Android phone. She has no emotional attachment to an Android phone. It's too complicated. It's a geek device, it's all wrong."
Now, before you go emailing him photos of the Android tattoo girl, there is undeniably some smidgen of truth to the man's words. Android is a geek's dream ecosystem and it's not necessarily the most accessible platform in the world, but to completely write it off for the nightclub-going lady demographic doesn't strike us -- or Justin Timberlake, or Chad Ochocinco -- as the most astute idea in the world.

  1. I can understand the stereotype, but it's not all true. This is mainly to the "INQ chief", I sure hope he reads this lol!

First and foremost lol, let me say that I don't have a huge ego, but I consider myself a pretty damn good looking gal, and I love my Android phone, and I don't do the basics.

I grew up learning about electrical circuitry, technology, gaming, etc. (mainly from my father). I build my own computers, I'm a hardcore gamer (love fps games like Call of Duty series, BlackOps, and some mmos like World of Warcraft etc...), modded & repaired XBox 360s, phone modding (software), you name it I've probably done it or will do it lol

Learned the most of what I know from reading, watching my dad, and mostly by doing. This is just to give you a background on your not-so-typical girl, the one who is against the grain so to speak. We DO exist :)

I used to have a Blackberry, ran hybrid OS's on it, customized it, etc, and it was still boring and limited (my sis had talked me into getting a Blackberry, my prior phone wasn't a smartphone), so I joined the darker side and got me a Droid X and love it! I've already rooted and am on my way to customizing/modding it.

iPhones are not my cup of tea...They're too 'restrictive', simplistic, over-rated and I do not like the fact that you are limited to ONLY internal memory, blegh... After seeing the trouble my sis has with hers, it reinforces my hatred toward iPhone.

She jailbroke hers, but it likes to crash and wipe some of her apps...I haven't had any issues since I rooted my phone. Maybe one day I'll sway her to choose an Android phone instead.

Just because we're pretty or hott doesn't always mean we're not a geek or tech guru :)

I will admit, sadly I do have an emotional attachment to my Droid lol!! :D
