In China, the sedan will feature a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to Nissan’s latest Xtronic CVT transmission. The powertrain is also used in the Versa. Other powertrains are likely to show up under the sedan’s hood depending on the market.
A simple but rugged independent front and torsion beam rear suspension system has been designed for both China’s urban driving and its more challenging rural roads.
Nissan says that production will be underway soon at its joint-venture plant operated with Dongfeng in Guangzhou. Pricing starts at around $12,000.
