HTC Planning 3D Smartphone For 2011?

TechRadar are reporting that everyone's favourite Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC, are aiming to be market leaders in 3D enabled smartphones. Apparently sources within HTC are saying that the company is looking to get a commercial product product to market before the end of 2011. Hit the read more link for more on this.

HTC had previously demonstrated 3D display technology at MWC in Barcelona, but that was very much a demo, not anything that would be construed as an end product ready for market. HTC's latest R&D centre in the U.S. is said to be taking a very keen interest in both 3D display technologies and AMOLED displays with some e-ink thrown in for good measure.

Intersecting nicely with such reports is a job advertisment from HTC for an engineer familiar with 3D display and imaging technology.

Of course the big question is whether the public are even interested in 3D displays, after all it wouldn't be the first time the mobile industry assumed that consumers wanted a feature when they didn't like Video calls.
