By definition. cloud computing is defined as
Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices on demand, like the electricity grid.
So for the no-techies of you, it basically means that you are using an off site computers hardware to run a task instead of on your own PC and hence you are operating on the cloud! You could be using their storage, the applications on their server or just their raw processing power! Either way the moment you performed a task the "CLOUD" you just moved to the new era of cloud computing.
I call this an era as this is a technology that is fundamentally changing what we do online. If you take me for examples, only an year ago my own PC was cluttered with memory and RAM hogging programs that were absolutely required. Like converters, mp3 cutters, video editors, Microsoft office , media players, messengers and various other applications that at that time i could imagine living without.
Now I do each and every single one of these tasks online! In the future you will see more of your everyday tasks skip onto the Cloud from antivirus to one day, the ultimate, your Operating system! Imagine you not even having windows installed on your computer! Well, we will review most of the cloud technologies on our blog one by one as we see how this beautiful new chapter of technology plays out.
One of the biggest advantages this technology has is the obvious decrease in the cost of doing business, since you are taking you antivirus, operating system as well has power and processor hogging video editors and other costly software on the cloud you need a much less powerful and basic computer for yourself. This would bring the cost down exponentially! And when your windows itself is off your computer and on the cloud, viruses and security can be much more easily controlled.
This technology is Hugely promising, most people are calling Cloud Computing the biggest thing since the birth of the Internet itself!
